Re: Tire contact patch pics??

John, thanks so much for the response. That is just what I was looking for. We went to Fayetteville today and had the same trouble. After some heated discussion, tried some different things. Leaving lower on the transbrake and more air pressure in the tires. Finally the car left hard and straight. E...

Tire contact patch pics??

Anybody have a source I can go to and look at tire tracks and contact patch so I can help figure out whats going on with my buddies car? Tire tracks show the tires wadding up pretty bad with wobbles in the tracks from side to side. It's a 10.5" tire heavy car and we're trying to get it to hook ...

Re: lader bars setup

Without weighing the car and finding the center of gravity I would say your ladder bars are in the ballpark of being correct. But if the floor pan clearance will allow, I would maybe go up 1 hole on the front to hit the tires harder. Then you proably can leave at a higher RPM. But most important, yo...

Re: lader bars setup

Looks like you have hardly no travel in the front suspension. If they are double adjustable, you need to loosen the extension of the shock. And at the same time, set or maintain the stiff compression of the shock. Also might not be hitting the tires hard enough with the ladder bars. What is the dist...

Re: solid trans mount

I run solid frame mounts, no rubber inside them. Solid motor mounts home made from 3/8" steel, and a rubber transmission mount. No problems. I wouldn't even consider running a solid tranny mount.

Re: E85 PROS & CONS

I am also interested in this, but with input from guys who are spraying and running it. I am assuming I would have to run a sepatate cell with race gas for nitrous enrichment. So come on fellas, help us out. Not trying to hijack, but also interested.

Re: What Happened To My Powerglide?

No rear pump on a race unit, only early stockers. Sounds like it may have broke the pump gears, not sure if your throttle issue is the cause. Get a pressure gauge, 0-300lbs, and check the pressure. The tap for low and high is on the servo cover, pressure should be over 150lbs. If nothing pull the t...

Re: What Happened To My Powerglide?

From what I have read, seems that not all glides had a rear pump. Just the earlier ones. They also had a different valve body. Since mine is a manual shift only, I am assuming it has been changed to an aftermarket valve body. Don't know about the rear pump. Can I pull the tail shaft housing off and ...

Re: What Happened To My Powerglide?

I am assuming it has all the stock components. Just has a manual valve body and kevlar stuff in it. Thanks for the advice.

What Happened To My Powerglide?

Went out Thursday night to test and tune. Tried the 1000 HP carb again and had bad luck, so reinstalled the old modified 750HP. Apparently didn't get the throttle cable bracket tight enuff, and it slipped and the cable end stuck into the cable sleeve. Long story short it was hung 3/4 WOT. So after l...

FAST's Dual Wide Band Meter

I am looking for the cheapest way to get A/F readings and don't really have to datalog, I can do a video of the meter if need be. But also have a laptop if I need ...

Re: How fat is to fat

Don't mean to take away from the fat point but that ain't the most sturdy looking ring pack I ever saw either!! The top ring is way down in the hole, but the oil ring has got to be WAY into the wrist pin. And that also (IMO) causes ring lands to fail just as the top ring too far up. I guess it's jus...

I have a new air pump from an Olds Alero but have not installed it yet. Just jumper wired it and it twists up something fierce. Moves ALOT more air than my friends S10 blazer air pump.

Re: Testing New Carb-Not Happy

OK, thanks allot guys. Lets see if I can adress each of these responses. Weather was not favorable for the 1000HP test. Humidity was higher. The carb has a stud installed in the center. I will double check the full throttle. I was running identical timing with both carbs. I did have to drill and tap...
