Re: Firewall Project
That's a good idea Bruce. I have an Ed Quay wing up in the attic still in the box I bought several years ago. I might have to do a stamp on it before I install it. Had I known I was going to get into metal shaping This much on this project I probably wouldn't have bought the wing, just made one myse...

Re: Firewall Project
Thanks. Redo's I'm on #4. It doesn't take long to make them now that I have done a few. I did #4 last night in about an hour. Still needs some tweaking, trimming & massaging. That's the part that takes time. I guess I should have made @4 first, then I'd be on to the next project by now.

Re: Firewall Project
The more I looked at the Camaro panel the more things I found I didn't like. The deal breaker was when the bead rolled lines didn't match up to panel next to it. So, tonight I knocked out another one. It didn't take long since I had the stamp & measurements from the first "prototype". ...

Re: Firewall Project
Bruce I made a table to support larger panels, smaller ones I don't bother to put it on. I just draw the design on the panel & freehand them, I did stamp the panel around the code tag though. I made a receiver like a trailer hitch to mount it to the wall. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/p...

Re: Firewall Project
The aluma panel looks the same when I take it out as before I used it . I would have thought the edges would have rounded off a little but not so. I leave an 1/8" space between dies so the aluminum naturally bevels at about a 45° angle.

Re: Firewall Project
Thanks everybody for the positive comments. I didn't take any pics. of this stamping but I did awhile back when I stamped out the sheet metal for the intercooler flanges. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/DiePressed.jpg The dies are CNC cut out of aluma-panel, a signboard that has a so...

Re: Firewall Project
Everybody (but me) had to work this weekend, we celebrated Father's day Thursday, so I had the weekend to work on the firewall. Got a fair amount done. Since this WILL be a street legal car, I found a new spot to display the trim code tag. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/pressdies.jp...

Re: Firewall Project
Cool... Hey I want to borrow your shrinker! I need to make me some dzus rails... Which model you have? I'm not sure. I bought it from a booth at a car show a few years ago. I think it's about the same deal as H.F. sells. It works good for what I use it for, although it marks up the metal some. From...
