Re: T-400 Vs Powerglide

I have been talking to a couple of engine builders about this and they have all said to raise my stall speed. I need to hook up my trans brake first and see what I can actually stall, but they have all suggested right at 1000 rpm below my RPM going through the traps, which would work out to be about...

Re: T-400 Vs Powerglide

I was also worried about the hookup. I figured I would have to change the rear gear back to a 4.10 with the 400, but didn't know if that would hurt or just offset the gear reduction and I would be right back to where I am. (Except my wallet would be lighter) In the classes I run (Nostalgia Super Sto...

T-400 Vs Powerglide

I have a 3350lb 500CI Chevelle, 4.30 gear 29x10 tire. I am thinking of switching from the PG to the 400. Does anybody have some before and after comparisons on Et and mph? Either way from a 400 to a PG or PG to 400. I need to gain a couple of tenths in my car. My car will run 10.10's in good weather...

I guess my first comment would be, why do you have a world products block?

Shafiroff lists it as a

Anybody ever bought a Shafiroff Short Block?

My stock Block is shot and I only have 11.5:1 compression. I was going to find me a new block and do all the machine work and stick my callies stuff in it along with a new set of pistons, but I was thinking of stepping up to a 540.

Any one here have any experience with them?

I got a 4.30 gear in my car and runs right at 7100 rpm @ 132mph with a 4500 stall and 29x10 tires. I would think a 4.56 should be about right also, the stall will depend on where you are making power......so will the gear.

Flashing the convertor will make it hit the tires harder. Whether it helps your 60' times, you'll just have to try it and see. Theoretically, flashing the convertor will also slow down your reaction times as the motor will have to pick up rpm before the car starts moving.

That's cool, this is about as far as I can get my Chevelle to lift, but it's a footbrake car. I would love it to launch farther
