Re: too much carburation
Put a large deadhead regulator on it, something like the Magnafuel large 4 port. Limit the pressure to 7 psi, 13 is way too much.

Re: Pressure Switch / Secondary Fuel Pump
You would set it up with a SPDT or DPDT relay. When boost is below the pressure you set it at it will ground the relay and switch to the unused normally open side turning the pump off. When boost is above it will lose the ground and allow current through the normally connected section, turning the p...

Re: racing heads
As cast the Dart Pro 1 310 would be about as good as any. And quality castings.

Re: Points distributor help
Likely the wrong coil and/or ballast resistor. Finding the right combination these days may not be easy, NAPA will probably be your best chance. Another option is to use the points to trigger an MSD.

Re: Ignition timing, guessing game or not?
Cranking compression might tell you something about the cam, but to arbitrarily say timing is too high because of it doesn't factor in the rest of the info. Larger heads may need you to turn up the wick a little, more RPM, more converter stall or gear to see gains.

Re: Ignition timing, guessing game or not?
Timing needs are a combination of things, the primary factor being the ability of the combustion chamber to have a homogenized mix and have an even burn through the chamber. If the fuel quality is good, one that atomizes and vaporizes well the distribution will be more even and require less timing. ...

Re: E-85 Pros and Cons
I've run on a 13.2 to 1 427 SBC and a 14.5 to 1 447 SB2 head engine with no issues. 5.04 in the 1/8 with the 447, 5.28 with the 427. I did run one night with a 1050 on my 461 SB2 at 15.5 to 1, ran a string of 4.91's. When I get it back together, broke lifter, I'll try a 1250 on it, should be good fo...

Re: 2012 BLP Carb Shootout
Yes, I have a 2.400 billet carb I'll run again on the big block. The intake is conventional this year, will be skewed less by the variety of tops used on the Dart Box Ram last year. Small block is essentially the same engine with a small change in RPM for the pull. I have two carbs I have to chose f...
