Re: New to the gas.

Get a NOS cheater system and be done with it. Easy to install, not to complicated and if you use the jets they say its on the rich side so it's safe to use. Here is a link to the one i am talking about. Not to expensive either. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=NOS%2...

Gear Vendors Overdrive - Anybody ever used one at the track?

I am thinking about putting a Gear Vendors overdrive unit on my TH400 and changing my rear end gears to match so I can run faster at the track with it and drive it on the highway on the street. Are these things up to that task as they say on there website? Does anyone have one or know someone who do...

Re: Horsepower Loss Through Drivetrain

My pump gas 582 BBC made 768hp and 726tq on Shafiroff's engine dyno when I picked up my engine from him. After installing it in my car it made 570hp and 630tq to the rear wheels on a chassis dyno at a local shop. That's a 25% drop in HP and a 13% drop in TQ. An engine dyno measures torque and calcul...

Re: nos purge question?

I use to run NOS on my SBC and had to put on a purge kit to avoid a bad bogg i would get on the line as I hit the NOS as soon as the throttle went WOT. In the heat between rounds the same thing would happen (big Bogg). You need to purge a little bit every round to avoid the problem. It is also good ...

That's my old 388 SBC that was in my car before I got the 582 BBC. :-)

A lot if one tube is that pinched! It needs to be fixed as that hole will be really rich and slow you down. How did it happen anyways? Any pictures of the damage? :-)

You look at the price and you think holy shit! If I was to build that same engine here in Canada it would probably cost me $20000 to $25000. Too bad the quality isn't there. I'm really wondering now about mine since they don't offer any warranty up here at all...sounds like the warranty is a big jo...

Was going to last weekend but it was a washout here. :( This weekend I had other things going on (local car shows) but the next two weekends are race weekends for me. I race with the ONDR (Ontario Nostalgic Drag Racers). Hoping for very low 10's out of it. 8-)

The news just keeps on getting better and better about Shafiroff, and I've STILL yet to fire mine up. Is it worthwhile to take it to a reputable machine shop for disassembly to check clearances? You wouldn't think you'd have to buying from a big name like Shafiroff but you never know. Well I have s...

I appreciate the responses...I'm sick... I was all proud..The thing ran pretty good.. only 14 1/8 mile passes. It was gradually slowing down from the start, so it was eating itself up from the first time I started it.. We run 1/8 mile here in Texas, I have a 3000 lb. nova, and it ran high 5.70's.. ...

Try something like this. It may or may not work with your setup. Maybe just the bottle, easy to hide but only good for one shot. :-)
