Re: You and your ride... Post it here get to know everyone...

Howdy, My name is John Dougherty, I run a cam grinding shop in Northern California, http://www.drcamshafts.com . I haven't posted here in forever, mostly just read the posts. Figured I would re-introduce myself. I have been racing this 71 Nova for about 3 years. Currently has a 377 sbc with 210 afr ...

Re: building a flow bench

The orifice plate in my SF-600 is metal. Gold anodized. The plenum can reach temperatures over 150+ degrees in the exhaust flow direction. Not sure if you would warp a plexiglass orifice or not. Have you seen this deal? http://www.audietech.com/flow-quik/what-it-is.html You can build a plenum / air ...

Tighten them up by .004" The problem changing lash comes when you loosen the lash up. If you go too loose you can increase the valve seating velocity and valves can bounce on the seat. The clearance ramp height can be different between manufacturers and even between lobe profiles from the same ...

Thanks for the reply John. So far Ive run 11.73 @ 115.5 with a 1.62 60 foot time. The density altitude changes from 1200 feet down to 300 as the night goes on. I took the front down one jet size since I pulled the plugs . The bigger jet might be right in a few weeks from now when the DA goes under s...

Read my plugs?

I cut up a couple of plugs from a few weeks ago. Small block, no power adder on 100 octane Sunoco. The plug on the left is a 3923 and the right is a 3924. The 3923's had about 25 passes and the 3924 was in for one night. The 3924's seem to be a little faster. http://drcamshafts.com/71/HPIM6232.JPG

Just curious, did you use a crush sleeve, or did you shim it for pinion bearing preload?

Bah... Inner fenderwells just add weight! Beware of aftermarket TH400 crossmembers, many that I've heard of over the few years have to be reworked to fit right (center mount). They are making them reproduction now, the same crossmember works for the 68-74 Nova as the 1st Gen Camaros. Maybe by now t...

I forgot to install the rear cam plug, and didnt notice since the flywheel was in the way. So far thats been the only glitch. I ran some 11.80's at 115 in 98 degree weather so Im pre...

There was a STS turbo powered 4x4 on regular street tires running up here at the local strip. He had a 5.3 LS-1 with a cam, longtube headers, the STS turbo, a water injection set up with alcohol mixed in and some computer work. Ran 12.30's @ 110mph. Oh yeah, this is on a 1/4 mile track. Here is his ...

Nice run.
Doesnt look you are getting more than 1 inch of seperation in the back.
I was told a car with Caltrac bars should launch more like a 4 link car with no seperation.
