Re: 1/4 mile time?

That combo should be good for low 12's-high 11's...a little more gear (3.42-3.55) in it & 11.50 should be easy to come by. Spend some time on Realoldspower.com & Highperformanceolds.com, you'll find you have the basics for a good combo. Keep a keen eye on the fuel volume with the Q-jet...a g...

Re: true difference in performance with choke tower

As far as "true gains"...can say, but if you go to do it, no big deal. I did the same as Spaz. Hacksaw & some grinding with a coarse cutter bit & sandpaper rolls. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/HAULINIT/blow-throughcarb011-1.jpg Here's One on my Q-jet, same deal http://i16...

Re: Narrowing '98 Mustang front K member

There's more to it than cutting down the craddle width & cutting off the tie rods. Doing it that way, you will have a lot of bumpsteer...you need the pivots of the lower control arms & the pivot of the inner tie rods to be very close to the same width so the arc travel is nearly the same. Cu...

Re: Conversion

Your '87 Bronco wouldn't have a 8"...it would be a 8.8, tin cover on the back. The 8" is a front loader. What rear is in the Ranchero now? As far as using the '87 Bronco rear, as you mentioned...it's way too wide. Your looking for an early Mustang or a Granada/Monarch, pre '77 Bronco among...

Re: electric water pump

I run mine on the street alot, did Hot Rod Drag Week with no problems, sit in cruise lanes, ect. however I'm in Pa not Tx. My temp went down slightly after the install of the pump & dual electric fans compared to my factory clutch fan & shroud. I don't run a stat, resistor, ect. temps never ...

I'm having trouble with this...Your saying you cut Two coils off of the spring & it got you to Four inches travel. I don't see how cutting coils could GAIN travel. Lorne

Nice numbers! Was this using the same X-pipe? From that I'm gathering the mufflers are the problem? The smaller Magnaflows were faster, correct? Thanks for sharing! Lorne

Re: narrowing a nine inch

Where is the crankshaft centerline in relation? You don't want the engine/trans. assy. in the car at an angle. It sounds like it would be best to cut the tacks & get it right before you move on. Lorne

Re: narrowing a nine inch

Actually trying to keep the axles the same length will be a problem...the pinion will be 4" to the Right. My suggestion would be to do a little measuring first. I'm certain you will find your whole car is built "to the Right" about an inch or so, meaning that the engine/trans, tunnel,...

Re: Throttle cable HELP!!

There are different length cables for the different engines...the short one should work fine. The straight 6 & I think, the 4cyl. are pretty long. Really, they are a nice set-up (built-in return spring & the metal mounting tab). Like Tubbed said "It doesn't know...", just get somet...

Re: Installing engine with motor plates...

Working on something that has been started/built by someone else may require that you look at some things differently than if you were starting with a clean slate, unless your willing to...well, start at the begining. The U-joints will make up for varriances in the angles, however for strip only veh...

Wow Black, yea, your going for it. I agree, I don't like the sounds of a inexperianced guy going for that, but that's up to you. Not only the time/skill involved before the painting...the sanding & buffing later to end up with a nice job will be very testing. With that said, I would like to make...

Re: Looking for a paint forum

What color are you going to paint it? The color may/will have a say-so in what materials I would recommend. I agree with some of the others, if your not used to doing bodywork & painting... the best/most expensive products are not what you want, some "middle of the road" stuff will wor...
