Re: Distributor Installed Correctly?

Innisfail, AB. I'm sure I was on the proper stroke, you could feel the air push out of the plug hole as I turned it. The main thing I was concerned with was the position of the timing mark.

Re: Distributor Installed Correctly?

Actually I did find TDC first, once the distributor was in I rotated it around one more time to make sure.

Distributor Installed Correctly?

Never installed a Chev distributor before by myself, can someone tell me if I did it right? -Dropped in distributor, engaged oil pump, rotor pointing at #1 cylinder -Pulled out #1 plug, turned over engine by hand until air started to escape from hole (TDC) -Engine was dynoed at 32 degrees of timing ...

Re: Difference Between Hooker Comp & Super Comp Headers

Yes they do hang down pretty low. I had to carry a set of blocks with me to raise the back end of my truck up so they wouldn't catch my trailer when I loaded and unloaded my car.

Difference Between Hooker Comp & Super Comp Headers

What's the main difference besides tubing material? Will a super competition header give me a noticible increase in power over a competition model? I have a set of super comps with a badly pinched tube and a new pair of comps availible to me. Both have 2" primaries and 3.5" collectors. The...

I got the set of headers with the car (the guy threw them in along with a TH400, 5000 stall, Griffin rad and 2 sets of tires). He must have hit something with them because all the tubes coming off the flange are twisted and the one tube is really pinched. I only noticed this when I was going to re- ...

You look at the price and you think holy shit! If I was to build that same engine here in Canada it would probably cost me $20000 to $25000. Too bad the quality isn't there. I'm really wondering now about mine since they don't offer any warranty up here at all...sounds like the warranty is a big jok...

Pinched off header tube

How much will a pinched header tube affect performance? I noticed on my set of Super Comps that one of the primary tubes is almost totally pinched off.

427belair, how was it acting bad? I didn't buy mine new, they came with the car when I bought it. The guy I got it from didn't know how many passes he had on them. I maybe have about 10 quarter mile passes on them as well as some 100' competitions.

The news just keeps on getting better and better about Shafiroff, and I've STILL yet to fire mine up. Is it worthwhile to take it to a reputable machine shop for disassembly to check clearances? You wouldn't think you'd have to buying from a big name like Shafiroff but you never know.

Need Some More Torque Specs

Anyone know the torque specs for header bolts into aluminum heads? Do I need some kind of anti-sieze compound as well?
