Re: Rocker arm adjustment.

Find yourself an old motors manual that covers 55-57 chevs, you can set the engine on tdc, adjust half of the rockers, rotate one rev and set the other half. The old manuals will tell you which ones to adjust. It's a pretty slick and quick way to do it.

Re: lowering front leaf spring mounting bracket ??

I'm not totally sure but I would bet that it had something to do with getting the pinion snubber to work correctly.

Re: SBC "DISCOUNT" PARTS????

You're right about the big block, lot of cheap hp there. I had given some thought to a 454 but between the drag racers, truck pullers, and mud boggers in my area, you can't pick one up for much less than 500$. I've already got a fair set of heads, a Lingenfelter strip dominator, headers, oil pan, va...

Re: SBC "DISCOUNT" PARTS????

Hey guys, thanks for the imput. You've confirmed my concerns with thses import companies. Why a 434? I'm just thinking, if I'm going to buy new pistons, rods, and crank, why not max it out? Yes, it is a heavy car, an all steel 57 chev with a full cage, dana 60 + me, I'm not the thin, half starved 22...

SBC "DISCOUNT" PARTS????

Ok, some thoughts on engine componets. I am finding out that nearly all speed equipment is imported ( oh jeez, what has happened to us  ). I have been looking on Ebay at engine parts and have some questions? 1. 434 cu in sbc kits, Eagle or Scat crank kits? These kits range from about 1300-1800...

Re: Unusual Small Block Chevy

Sounds like you've got an old industrial engine block. Some engines were built for forklifts and other specialty equipment. I once had a set of heads that had the staggard valve cover bolts like on a 55-57 chevy but also had the accesory bosses on the end of the heads like the ones that came out in ...

Re: 57 chevy suspension?

  Ok, we're going with the moroso springs. :? :? Questions: If we put the springs on and the car sits in build stage for a long time, what happens when we finish it? I read here in the forum something about these springs had to settle and find thier equililbrium position. Do they h...

Re: 57 chevy suspension?

Rob, what are the part numbers for your springs? Price? Why haven't you used them? Thanks for your time.

57 chevy suspension?

 Working on rebuilding my 57 chevy drag car. I have been away from the sport for quite awhile so I'm a little behind the times. I'm going to install a set of drop spindles on the front to lower the ride height and also poly bushings in the front end. I had thought that I might use the old s...

Re: 57 chevy drop spindles

Thanks for the info, I will look into the oval supplyers. I'm still concerned about the cast iron issue, maybe I shouldn't be?

57 chevy drop spindles

 I am working on re-building my old drag car and would like to know if anybody has any info or thoughts on installing drop spindles on the front of my 57 chev. I would like to lower the ride height without spending a bunch of money or cutting up the frame. The spindles that I have seen for ...
