I tend to agree with Mike on this one. The average person just isn't familiar with the speed potential of these cars 60 to 200 ft after leaving a dead stop. Hindsight is 20/20 but I think there were several errors in judgement on this day. Was Troy driving wrecklessly? Well, I wouldn't say he was wr...

I run a Dart Big M block with billet caps and I don't remember my builder mentioning anything about having to drill holes in the oil galley area. He polished up that area to aid oil return and epoxied some screens in but I don't recall hearing anything about missing holes.

Thanks for the information. We put a Harwood on my cousin's '71 Nova last summer and I agree with the comments on fit and finish. It was a nice piece. I had some Glastek on my '66 Nova tube car and the finish was not quite as good as the Harwood but definitely not bad. Again, thanks for the comments...

Fiberglass Hood

Need some advice guys. I looking to purchase a 'glass hood for my '69 Camaro and I'm wondering who makes a good one. I'd like to get a 4 - 5" cowl in a bolt on. I'm trying to put my car on a diet....since I keep cheating on mine!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would definitely like to 2nd everyone's sentiments. This is a GREAT board. John, you've done an excellent job. This is what racing started out like i.e., people helping each other to GO FAST!!!!!! I love it.

Allright I'm confused??? :? There are street gears and pro gears. What is a Pro-street gear? Who makes it? Ya! Tire shake, think that is what keeps tearing up my rear gear. :( ---Bill. There are only 2 i.e., Street (or prostreet) and Competition. Both competition and street gears are made o...

It does happen! I bought a crank 3 years ago from a reputable company and when I sent it out to be balanced the machinist phoned me to say they were having trouble getting the crank to balance. I told him to stop everything and I sent it back to the company and told them the run out journal to journ...

You made the right decision John. I use Howard billet steel rods in my 540 and I haven't really had an issue on nitrous and we've been spraying 450 hp of nitrous on that motor for 2.5 seasons and she's huffing right along. Does it make me nervous, YES! I had to hold me breath on 2 separate ocassions...

Thanks for all the info guys. I ordered a competition gear set but I will likely send it back. I'll definitely have well over 1000hp but like someone else said, I'll probably break something else before the pinion. Also, having the pro-street gears is less of a worry on the street (when I occassiona...

Canton mostly, the big races in Hattiesburg are on Sundays mostly and I have to work Sunday night. Byram is too short for me at only 500 ft. I usually get beat up in the 10.5 outlaw class. I'm running a conventional headed small block with a wet sump system. Those guys out cube me on the aver...

Mike, thanks for the information. I have 35 spline axles but what I was asking about was the spline count on the pinion. As you know, there are 2 common counts on the 9" Ford i.e., 28 and 35 spline. What I was really trying to understand was when you need a switch from a 28 spline pinion setup ...

Competition vs. Pro Street Gear set

Thanks for the information TPorter_02. I see you're from Brandon. I was born in Newton and grew up in Forest, MS. Most of my relatives are still there. I used to race off and on at Riverside in Pearl before they closed it. Do you race in Canton, Byram, Hattisburg or where? Which class do you run in?

Competition vs. Pro Street Gears

Need some help guys. When should you consider switching from a pro-street gear set (28 spline pinion in 9" Ford) to a true competition ring/pinion setup (35 spline)? Is there a general rule? Are any of you currently running competition gear sets?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
