Re: 4" exhaust...quiet thru design possible?
The dynatech split flows is a good muffler. They are much quieter than flowmaster outlaws that we have on the car now. They must flow as good also, because there was no et difference between the two.

Probably x275. He could take about 300 lbs out of his truck for that classmytmouz wrote:Flippen went nineties in qualifying in one of the classes Saturday night, not long before they did the rental car drags. I think he was in more than one class though...

Re: What would cause this?
The timing is a little more than what I run. Being rich over time will take the rings out as well. Rich and over timed seem to go hand in hand. If nothing mechanical happened, like trash in the system, I'd say the tune up got it.

Re: What would cause this?
Usually the when the piston looks like it's been "nibbled" on like that it's from too much timing. I'd say for whatever reason (possibly too much timing) the rings gave up and let oil in the chamber. When that happens it does exactly what you see. Looking at the piston I'd assume you have ...

Are you running Nitrous? Looks like it with the torch marks. Do all the pistons look the same or is that the worst one?

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
I agree want a be, you want the lightest longest spring you can run without going into coil bind. Oh And I said I had an 8" spring but they are 10".

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
71chevy,
Your shocks probably only adjust rebound and the compression is fixed on firm. As long as it comes up free it should be fine. Mine was real low too, when you jack up the ride height it will take some travel away. 4" has always been plenty on my car though.

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
My front end weight is 1795. I have 8" 450lb springs. I wanted 400lb springs but Mike told me I could run into coil bind and send the shock through the lower control arm. When you jack this car up,...how much suspension travel do you have? How much of the shock shaft is showing at normal ride ...

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
With the compression and rebound both fairly soft, maybe 5 clicks from full soft, it feels similar to the moroso springs and the 90/10 shocks I used to have. If I crank the compression up it gets hard as a rock. I can jump on the front end and hardly move it down. This is with the afco bnc front sho...

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
I think ours is 25" to the fender. I had to turn it up maybe 2-3" of thread. You might have a lighter spring than me and it lets it compress a little more.

Re: i have a newbie suspension question
Trz told me on a nova every half inch of shock travel is an inch at the wheel. I just put afco coil overs on mine and I have 4" of travel. Are you saying you have 7" from front end fully compressed to fully open?

Re: Rear leaf springs
I'd say your biggest problem is the shocks and your gear ratio. With the turbo 350 and the 4.11 rear gear, you have a 10.35 ratio off the line (assuming you have a stock gear set) . That's a lot of gear and hit for the 275. Fwiw I have mine in the top hole also with a 1/4 turn of preload. I've never...

Re: Rear leaf springs
Our nova has very little seperation. You can hardly see it in a video. I have the stiffest spring calvert makes, I think its a 225?, i can push the rearend down about 3/4 to an inch. What kind of shocks do you have? If they are rancho shocks the valve also adjust compression at the same time. If the...
