Re: NGK Racing Plugs question
I used to use -7's, when it was a carbed gas motor, still used them when I went alky. Now with the blower motor I went to -9's.

Re: Oil Pan Seals & Sealant - Anyone use just silicone?
On anything that gets taken off regularly I still use a gasket, that would be oil pan and valve covers. Siliconed to the pan, comes off easy and has been off and back on at least 20 times on the same gasket... Same with valve covers, siliconed to the cover...they come off quite alot also.

Re: wide or close plug gap with alkhol fuel injection ,msd 7
Methanol will last a long time as long as its in a sealed container, just to keep the moisture out and to keep the methanol from evaporating.
Never ran a 7al-2, with a mag we use .014-.018 gap, i would think you'd be fine just taking .010 gap out of what you would normaly run in a gas motor.

Re: what happens at launch?
I've watched some slow motion video of our car leaving and it seems to do both, it squats a bit right at the hit, "I'm guessing the shocks cant keep up with the axle", then the whole car raises up and leaves.

Re: what happens at launch?
Thats a pretty loaded question, isnt it.
There are alot of variables, and there is more than one way to get a car to leave.

Re: Leaf spring rear suspensions?, tips-tricks?, 60' times??
$588, thats less than I expected, is that just 3 inputs or can you add more to it? If I put a data logger on I might as well get one that would do EGT's and fuel pressure, a fuel pressure/egt curve would make things so much easier on the engine side of things.

Re: Leaf spring rear suspensions?, tips-tricks?, 60' times??
Do you guys attempt to get to a certain wheel speed with that setup? The way I understand it, get the most wheel speed you can without smoking the tires, too little wheel speed makes the tires wad up, shake and takes to long to get them round again. Thats what I try for, but with no data recorder o...

Re: Leaf spring rear suspensions?, tips-tricks?, 60' times??
It weighs 3250lbs at the end of a run, tires are 10.5wx31x15 tread width of 12", most of our 60's are in the 1.30-1.33 range and the best was a 1.28.
There should be a picture showing ride hight and yea I know its too tall, expecially because the motor is setback 9.5" and up 1 or 2"

Re: Leaf spring rear suspensions?, tips-tricks?, 60' times??
I've been drag racing for around 10 years or so, I built my car when I was still in High School and since my main advisor (my dad) was an old school kinda guy we kept the leaf spring rear. Anyways, I caught ALOT of crap at the drag strip about how my suspension would never work right, blah blah, fro...

Leaf spring rear suspensions?, tips-tricks?, 60' times??????
I wanted to start this thread to see who out there is using leafs and in the end find out how they are working for everyone. Another thing I want to get going is a pool of information to maybe help out some of us gain some understanding as to what makes a leaf spring suspension work well, spring rat...

Re: Major changes, new parts, more grunt, yee haw ! :)
Oh I think you will be impressed with the changes, 9.90's should be well in sight, and if they dont.....two pulleys are easy to change. Just to share blower stories, the first time I ever messed with one was 3 years ago when I built my big 572" 8-71 motor, I completly expected it to run a 8.70 ...

I just wanted to say, I switched from Manley to Manton pushrods last year and they are worlds apart, Manton pushrods are definently top notch stuff with good service too.

Re: Retarding Timing on Blower Motor
If you know what you are doing and keep an eye on your tuneup, you wont need a timing retard. If you want to run it like a regular bracket car and never check the plugs and be 100% safe all the time, yea its probably a good idea. IMO, there are 2 factors. Do you trust yourself tuning it? ..... How w...

Re: Titanium Zoomies????
Ti zoomies should work fine as long as you can keep them on the short side. I think some of the TAD guys are doing it, not 100% on that though, I think some are using inconel too. Like MJfab said, do your homework and buy the RIGHT alloy, one that is heat and vibration resistant. I think it would he...

Re: street BBC solid roller
Years ago we built a 10:1 427 BBC street motor, solid roller cam, it was 244* .600, 244* .600, it was definently NOT over cammed, very mild mannered on the street, it was in a 4 speed Vette. Ended up being to much motor for the car, damn thing kept breaking things. I dont think that cam is even near...
