Re: MSD 6al ?

I can say in all the years I have been running MSD stuff i would have to agree with them The box either works or not. I am not saying that something is not wrong with the box, but I have never seen one do what you described. All my dealing have been the box works/or not. So you raced the car one wee...

Re: Lifespan of bronze distributor gears

It's so hard to tell with pictures. To me it almost looks like something ran through it. Are all the teeth tore up like the ones in the picture?? A few things, How much end play do you have in your camshaft?? Have you checked it since the engine has been built?? Are you running a high volume oil pum...

Re: Moving the Valve Stem Hole in B/S Wheels?

I would find some one with a bridgeport style mill and have the hole machined in the same location it is in. By using a mill you can off set the new bigger hole so that the part of the hole closest to the lip is still there, but the rest of the hole is outboard. Can you post a picture of the wheel n...

Re: A few more finished projects

I know where there is a brand new gallon of hugger orange,,,don't even think about touching it...

I know your engine Guru...He never said that about the windshield. I think he said his engines don't make engough power to need a windshield :nutkick:

Re: Piston to head clearance?

I assume by your first post that you are asking about piston to head and not piston to valve. I noticed you have some replys covering piston to valve and I want to make sure I am not missing something. Alot will depend on what the piston to bore clearance is and the skirt design on the piston. If yo...

Re: small block 454

Man I would hit that with a 400 gun and never even think twice about it. As long as the tune is correct you will never have an issue with it. Unless there is something really stupid about the engine, like a real deep valve pocket that only lets a piston top thickness of .050", or rings that are...

Re: true difference in performance with choke tower

First I want to say that I have not done a bunch of A-B testing. I have remove the choke tower on maybe 5 or 6 carbs that were on runnig engines. I personally have not seen an increase in performance. These were 400 hp ish street/strip engines. On your combo it might make a change, but I wouldn't co...

Re: Pick the "Collective Brain" of the site :)

Well the non-cnc'd heads make a difference. That changes the picture some what. But there is still an issue IMO. If you just want the data from your heads and no work done to them I'll do it for free. You just pay for the ride both ways. But I would really look into finding a chassis dyno even if yo...

Re: Pick the "Collective Brain" of the site :)

Before I took the car apart I would find a "GOOD" local chassis dyno to make a few passes on and gather some data about what the rear tires are seeing. IMO and I mean nothing bad by this at all, so please don't take it that way, but your performance is way off of what it should be for your...

I paid the $15.00 and got the live feed. It was the best $15.00 i ever spent. I hope that becomes a once a year deal.

Wolfe is one bad dude, and his car is so basic it blows your mind.

Re: Question for those who have Plexiglass

You really need the lexan. Don't use plexiglass. Most cars that have lexan windows that go up and down just use straight tracks and a simple seat belt under them to pull on to raise and lower the window. I really don't see any reason why you couldn't use the factory tracks and winder set-up and just...
