Re: 400 Turbo Shift Problem

One big thing I completely forgot and that was; Turbo 400's are unforgiving for low trans oil.
Make sure its properly warmed up-Do not overfill and keep it at about 7/8 full.

Re: Brake problem

Still sounds like you have air in the system. Or sometimes just a bad off the shelf M/C.. Do the normal bleeding. First off; Make sure the rear brake to drums are correctly set. Not too loose and not tight. Your auto adjuster will do that. Just so that they lightly drag. I like to tighten them up, b...

Re: 400 Turbo Shift Problem

This is a good one Phil. 1. Possible forward-clutch leaks. Oil Pump seal rings worn or damaged. Fwd clutch assy. may have damaged clutch lip seals. 2. Faulty pick-up. Damaged "O" ring or intake pipe damaged. 3. Faulty oil pump and/or pressure regulator. Possible stuck regulator or boost va...

Re: wheelie bars on 71 nova

I kinda agree with John.

I ran solid for a couple years then switched over to the spring. It just made the car lift at a smoother rate than slamming it.

Re: 3 inch or 3.5 inch exhaust for my 434 sbc

I have been running (big) sbc for ten years. My current car I am running a 3.5" with the Dynomax bullet mufflers. My last car with a 415 Motown I ran a 4.00" Dynamax with bullet mufflers. I measured it without the mufflers and it was 115 db. After putting the bullets on and measured it-it ...

Re: Transbrake vs Non Transbrake ?

Speedster Its all about seat time!! Practice what you feel is right and what your car and you feel is best. All cars and tracks are different. My last car was another s/g car with a turbo 400 and sbc and dependent on the track, I would leave at 4K at Vegas and come back to Ca and run 4.6k or even 5K...

Re: Piston to head clearance?

Supernova; I've always gone for a 0 deck with steel rods. Engines have been anywhere from 12.5:1 up 14:1 with no problem. Never used NOS or a turbo or blower as they might be different. Some guy I know back in Ca had an engine builder put his stuff together and he told him he wanted to see the deck ...

Re: How accurate are the MSD RPM Chips

Very interesting reading.

I will have to copy those ohm readings as soon as I learn how to spell--

I would have never thought that they are all different. Mmmmm

Learn something new everyday.

And they said we're all cave man. HA!

Thanks guys..

Re: Dart Little M dipstick?

That is the right one SC Racing. Same one they recommend. I got a fully prepped race engine back east a couple years ago and they put RTV in the dipstick tube---but I really like to see how much oil is in there--Just good sense--you know. I ended up tearing the engine down to check stuff anyway and ...

Re: I broke my motor

Hey Hitchcock Yeah that stuff does happen. This guy I knew a while back said he needed help with his engine because he said the lifters are making noise. So I asked him if he a solid lifter or hydraulic and he said hydraulic. I told him if the hydraulics are set right you won't have a problem. So he...

An old racer idea was that for every 100 lbs removed in a street car-your ET would drop one tenth.
