Re: Dipstick problem?
Your crank runs on an oil film, not on a dry bearing. One of the Top Fuel motors we build and tune runs 200 lbs. + @ 10,600. Check out on http://www.nitrosheriff.com Sorry, I didn't realize your other post was about a top fuel motor, which I admit I don't know anything about. Roger 582 with 70 psi ...

Re: Dipstick problem?
Ultra Grey works great. As long as there is a crankcase vent system. But I would pull off the pan, and inspect everything! Even check all the bearings! Good time to inspect and measure ALL the clearances. And take your oil pan, and set it up level. Fill it with measured solvent amounts to see HOW M...

Re: Trying to compare and apple with an orange..
I think it weighs too much for a powerglide. Not that it won't work but I wouldn't expect it to do anything but maybe be more consistent and possibly slower or no gain at all with the bigger engine. I'd use a three speed tranny and put enough tire on it for it to still be consistent or put it on a s...

Re: Plastic inner fender wells?
I watched a Chevelle burn to the ground one time because of those. At least that what the guy that owned the car said, he said he opened the hood and the right fenderwell was on fire. Something to think about when contemplating putting those near a set of 1200 degree header tubes.

Re: Launching Problems--HELP
I need some advice on keeping my front end down when I launch. Seems like kinda a "nice" problem to have but I can't leave off my trans-brake without standing on the back bumper. First off..... 1968 Camaro, back halved, 3200lbs 582 BBC 800hp/736ft/lbs, TH400 with B&M brake, Ford 9&quo...

FYI - Might be handy... Penetrating Oils Compared Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrates for break out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results! They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrates with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a &quo...

Re: new shocks?
I found myself with a little extra money to spend on the car so I ordered up some Strange DA rear shocks for my nova as I havent been able to 60' this year like I have in the past. Im going 4 tenths faster than I was last year, but my 60's are 4 to 6 hundreths slower I am looking for a good startin...

Re: Summer Slam 2010
I don't care for the videos where the sound of the action is obscured by the background music. As far as content goes it was rather random and un-focused. The eggbeater powered cars are ok if they're rear drive and run good. Front wheel drive and drag car don't fit well for me. My opinion, worth eve...

Novacentric, Novalicious, I just don't knowva, ooohhh, sorry
Just lookin' around on forums and stuff and found this http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=202996 One heck of a bunch of Chevy II and Nova pics. Re: 12 bolt
It was welded around the tube already ! Can it be rewelded and hold ? It has a alum diff cover to support the caps that has a brace kit that can be attached ! I am going to get the brace kit for it if I stay with the 12 bolt ! Must've been a lousy weld job. Grind it off and have someone t...

Re: Keep wiping out bearings.
When we washed the oil passages out on the crank, we found what we think are cuttings from when the block was line honed. Guess the machine shop didn't wash it out like they said they did. :nutkick: It should be back together and in the car within the next couple days. We'll drop the pan again to s...

Re: glide vs. 3 speed
So From when I posted this I had fixed my C-4 Which has since destroyed itself again. Man this stuff gets old..... I have a friend that has a Mustang with a 4something small block ford engine and a glide. He broke his c-4 about five times in one summer. He switched to a glide and the car picked up ...
