Re: John Heard, you think this will work better?
Thanks for helping me out John! It was kind of a challenge building those upper mounts from a 1/4" thick L profile with only an angle grinder, Mig/mag welder & drilling machine :) The big issue was that I wanted them adjustable, if I had made fixed mounts it would have been a breeze... I as...

John Heard, you think this will work better?
I listened to your advise and have reconstruct the upper shock mounts and turned them 90 degrees. It was kinda tricky because I wanted them adjustable... https://picasaweb.google.com/106797127845641607347/CalvertShocks#5636963965278966082 Tell me what you think, I may have missed something. Re: Rear shock location Nova Pro Street
Thanks John, I wish someone would have mentioned this before Ive done the welding :) Anyway, I will check it out and probably reconstruct the tabs and turn them 90 deg. Problem is that it would be harder making everything adjustable with the tabs turned 90 degrees because the shock is thicker than t...

Re: Rear shock location Nova Pro Street
This is what I did; Added plates on each side to the shock crossmember so I could raise it the amount needed, about an inch. Welded tabs to the shock crossmember so I have 3 different settings for the shocks now. Two almost straight up (about 4 degrees tilted) and one that is about 15 degrees tilted...

Re: Rear shock location Nova Pro Street
Thanks for your input guys! I have reconsider this, and decided to raise the crossmember in the chassi instead of adding the lower shockmount extensions. I will have to reconstruct a little more of the floorboard and make a "kickup" for the crossmember that will be welded in place around 1...

Re: Rear shock location Nova Pro Street
Thanks for you input Ytnova, I have 6" of shock travel. I've fabricated two different mounting location in the shock crossmember so I can have the shocks almost straight up (just a few degrees tilted) for drag, or more tilted (about 15 degrees) for the street. The street setup also gives me mor...

Rear shock location Nova Pro Street
Hi Guys, Im up to welding my custom (homemade) shock crossmember but having some issues, that I would like to hear your thoughts about. I have lowered my Nova about 3 inches so it is getting tight between the rearend housing and shock crossmember at compression. This is why im planning to install th...

Re: Chevy Nova newbie, welding subframe connectors the right
Thanks for the welcome guys, really appreciate it! :D Nice to hear that I probably done things right this time lol... Anyway, few years back I had a 1968 Camaro sport, but I sold it and kept the Nova. Maybe it's just me but I really like those "grocery getters) :D I'm glad I joined. /Matt

Chevy Nova newbie, welding subframe connectors the right way
Hi guys, I just stumbled into dragstuff.com & after some browsing into the forums I decided to become a member. Currently I’m working on my 1963 Nova sport coupe. I’m trying to develop a mean pro street Nova that is intended for both street & strip. This means compromises, but I’m willing to...
