Re: solid trans mount

I broke my TH350 at the end of last season because I was not aware of the issue of torque vs. aluminum. I pulled a section of the trans out that was being held in by the driverside trans mount bolt. The problem does not look bad except that it leaks quarts out the cracked area. :nutkick: T...

Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas to all. It's a pleasure to partake with the members of this forum. wikd69, I'm not sure how they can call the 69 Camaro part of the first gen, it looks nothing like a 67 or 68. It looks more like a Nova than a Camaro with those straight body lines. Ha, Ha You don't even put the Key i...

SMall Block build question

I hope this is not too open ended of a question. Which route would you go. I have a 350 block and a 400 block sitting in the garage. The 350 is a 4 bolt and the 400 is a 2 bolt. I was thinking about a 6" rod 350, but I see that a 383 is a very common combo, a 377 is a little less common and lik...

Re: Desktop Dyno

I use it. If you are honest about the data that you are putting in, it has the potential to tell you that you what you are going to run. I use the desk top Dyno and the Desk top Drag. With my motor set up in Dyno and imported in to drag, my best E.T. should have been around 12.48 1/4 mile and 105 mp...

Re: Electrical system I'm putting in my new car!!!!

John I have used automation direct in the past. It is good equipment. I'm sure if Trevor Stripling is using it sucessfully it probibly is a viable option, but for me the question is this; Why use a PLC if a N2O controller is designed for the task unless you are letting the PLC shift the trans and co...

Re: Electrical system I'm putting in my new car!!!!

John, I've been doing Industrial controls since 92 or 93. Mostly the hardware design, but I have been known to do programming also. The last 7 years have been designing build equipment for seat manufacturing and calibration/verification test equipment for air bag deployment. This is sort of a lie as...

Re: Electrical system I'm putting in my new car!!!!

What are you using for the touch screen? Looks like an Automation direct EA7-S6C-R. How many I/O is available? How are you stepping up the voltage? Most touch screen with the PLC built in are 24Vdc. Looks like a nice automation package you put together.

I've always been told to break the motor in on non-synthetic, then change to the syntheyic. Is there any truth to this? I'm running Mobil 1 5w30

Re: Th 350 3rd gear problem??

Well the egg is in my face. I looked at the linkage and found that the adjustable pin that connects to the trans. shift linkage was three turns out of position pushing the shifter 1/4 the way in to the next gear. THis was not an issue for first to second, but was enough to push 3rd into neutral. It ...

I did not get a change to look at the cable last night. I will check it in the next day or two. I will post my findings.

Re: Th 350 3rd gear problem??

It's put 2 years behind a 12.8 car. It does get road time, but just for ice cream with the kids. It has a huge by large tranny cooler. The fluid level is right on the mark while idling and warm/hot (I do not have a temp gage). I have not checked the fluid yet, but mid summer is was not burnt and it ...

Th 350 3rd gear problem??

Has anybody experienced shifting from 2 to a loss of 3rd like you hit neutral. Here is the scoop. Last night I went to the track with new carb. I pulled a 1.63 60 ft, but when under power the shift from 2nd to 3rd was not there. The motor banged off the rev limit. I did another run thinking that pos...

To loosen or tighter

I hope that I'm not asking a stupid question, but how do you loosen or tighten a converter? I see it all the time, I have an 8" converter that’s tight or you need to have a looser converter. While I think that I have a pretty good grasp of the loose vs. tight, how do you loosen the one that you...

I've been running a 8.5 10 bolt with 10.5 drag radials in a 3250lb car/driver. Not much better in stock form, but weld the tubes, gusset the perches, and put a girdle on it. It should live (Mine has lived for 10years with the last 4 on drag radials). I run my ET streets at 18psi and pull the front e...
