Re: Nitrous solenoids stuck closed

So after further review, I tapped on the solenoids, and both started working. Bottle pressure quickly dropped to 600.....so it wasn't as full as I remember. Seems the purge line was plugged...it's plastic. The main nitrous line to the plate had gas in it? Probably from not using the nitrous for over...

Re: Nitrous solenoids stuck closed

Bottle after all this time is at 900 psi. It was fresh when I put it in. I removed the nitrous line from the solenoids, and it runs free and clear. So I'm a bit puzzled. I purged the system the last time I ran the car, and I mean I purged it in the garage. I probably should have purged the whole sys...

Nitrous solenoids stuck closed

Hi,

Trying to get the car ready for some fall racing, and the purge doesn't work. It draws current and clicks, but nothing.
Ditto for the main nitrous solenoid.
These are Edelbrock.
What goes wrong with them and can I fix it?
Fuel solenoid works fine.
Car has been sitting for a year.....my bad.

Re: Anti rollbar ?s for my 69 nova

The car hasn't been to the track yet but i would predict it run low 9's it a 434 sbc with a 350 shot. My mechanic who has built lots of 8 second cars says i am gonna defently need one. He said that the car wont have that nasty body flex with and anti rollbar and highly recommened it to me. First, g...

Re: Ring gap

Hey guys. I stepped up to a 150 shot with no issues so far....well except for standing the car on the bumper, breaking the headers and ruining the pan. Glad I didn't try 200 hp...as it turns out, Edelbrock never supplied the right jets for that. The packaging engineer, ok, part time associate put th...

Re: Need some suggestions:

Thanks John. So far, I noticed the headlights fell off the upper adjusters. Pan is a bit tweaked, but not by the pickup. I hope the trap door still works. The bump stops on the frame by the springs got crushed. Glad I have front cage supports up to the front of the subframe. I need a simple timer fo...

Need some suggestions:

Not sure why all of a sudden I can't see font size choice...oh well. I posted a few weeks ago about the nice results with a 150 shot. Tried again last Sat with the following results. Watch the vid. I'm at 1:57 easing it off the line and at 4:30 hitting it from the go. Crashed really hard cause I lif...

150 shot, good results

We have been struggling here in the North West with rain. Very few opportunities to race. Finally got a good day, so I upped the HP from 100 to 150. I was jonesing..... Around 65 degrees, so despite the battery killing bottle blanket, I gave it a shot. Bottle had 3 passes, and I couldn't get it past...

I went with an Edelbrock Perf RPM system.
Also added a dedicated fuel system, retard box etc.
With a 100 shot I dropped from 10.10 to a 9.53.
MPH went from 133 to 140+

I'd say the 100 hp setting gave me 100hp.

So allow me to chime in here and ask as well. I believe we set my top ring gap to .018.....it's a 4.32" bore 498. Rule of thumb is .004" per inch of bore, right? Engine is now 4 years old with many runs. SRP pistons and the top ring is a fair ways down the piston. Wasn't set up for nitrous...

Hi Johnny, I've been a lazy ass and haven't installed it yet. Haven't even raced yet, been a very wet and cold spring here in Oregon. I have programmed it with the lap top. It allows you to set the PWM frequency. And it pulses from 10% to 90%. 100% is full open...no pulsing. It also states that anyt...

I ordered the Cometics NOX BOX 2 progressive today. I was impressed with the control it offers, as well as with the fact that it has data logging. I also liked the fact that the manual (they faxed it to me) expressed the need for quality large gauge wiring and the use of good relays. They even give ...

Re: sounds nice

It sounds nice especially two stage progressive and basic aquisition Only thing is the people that make it or put there name on it specialize in gaskets. ODD... I may give them a try though. They have been very helpfull. Faxed me the manual, so I'll read it over the weekend. Seems quite impressive....
