if the lifters have a spring clip where the push rod seats ; they are hydrolics .
if they have a flat steel ring in there they are solids .

does the balancer have rubber pressed between two halfs of the balancer.

you can get a locking dipstick from any chevrolet dealership. they are for 1990 454 ss pickups with th 400 trans. should be alot less than a $100.00.

certain relays will not work for your setup. i belive bosch relays are what you will have to use is bosch relays. john heard or adam wright here on drag stuff
can explain why.

if your old tab is accurate put it on and set the balancer to 0 degrees. put the new one on and adjust it to 0 degrees.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A CARB PROBLEM. LIKE IT IS DUMPING TO MUCH FUEL INTO THE MOTOR WHEN YOU STOMP ON IT. CAUSES A BOG AND AS THE RPM PICKUP IT GOES AHEAD AND TAKES THE FUEL.
