Re: street bbc running hot
both fans and waterpump are wired through a relay to +12v. the temp guage is plumbed into one of the water holes on front of the intake. the head gaskets are copper gaskets. If you big block guys were driving down the street and your temp was around 210-215, would you be alarmed or would that be on ...

Re: street bbc running hot
the water pump is a summit brand. spoke with quickfuel today. they said the 750 should be fine. They said even on a carb that is too small it would be more likely to run rich at idle due to the vacuum of the motor pulling fuel from other circuits of the carb instead of idle fuel mixture alone. we ha...

Re: street bbc running hot
What gas? I don't run a thermostat but have a plate that fits into the water neck with around a 3/4 to 7/8 hole in it to slow down the flow a little. I used to have a 477 with the block filled so only the heads got water and it would get up to 210 after a 30 mile cruise. How hot does it get? Ever p...

It has a new very large 4 flew radiator, ...

I stumbled into a 454 sbc today. 4.250 bore with a 4 inch stroke. Eagle crank, h beam rods and mahle forged pistons. Im not sure of the rod length and camshaft specs. Will this combo take any nos without blowing the sides of the block out with the side load? it is a motown block. How much should the...

not trying to hijack the thread, but quick question while we're on the topic. does a anti-roll do anything for a ladder bar car? thanks

Re: Blown Head Gasket or Intake Gasket?
how does the oil look on the dipstick? i have blown a head gasket and the water would pour out the exaust pipe.
is your coolent level really low? could it be passing the head gasket when the motor is hot and the coolent is under pressure? Im with the others on head gasket. let us know

Re: strange problem, losing et
went to track yesterday with a new borrowed 950 quick fuel and a new borrowed msd. same issue. I guess I will reluctantly pull the tranny and converter and have them checked out. I have now checked or replaced fuel system, electrical system, engines and tried 2 different converters. The only thing l...

Re: strange problem, losing et
went back to the track yesterday after replacing the fuel filter, fuel pressure guage, coil (mounted vertical), coil wire, new power valve. Same thing again. I spoke with ptc again and they mentioned the stater shaft in the tranny could be bad and the converter would act locked up. However it...
