Re: For you Nova guys out there :)
When I was in high school, the mechanic at the local shop put a Nova body on a Blazer chassis. Always made me wonder why, but think how easy it would be to monster truck those first-gen Camaros! Just as satisfying as seeing them in the rear view mirror! All kidding aside that's a painful way for a m...

Re: Painted car!!!!!
Chris, Car is looking good! What hood are you running? I'm switching to a big block and my 2 1/2" cowl won't cut it. I would like to avoid a forward facing scoop, and really like the VFN 5" windshield length hood John and others are running - however, I've read about mixed results with duc...

Re: Time for some changes
John - as others have said, I would hate to see the forum go. I don't post often, but the site was an excellent resource when I was planning my mini tub project. I still check the site out about once a week, and have been searching more lately as I am switching to a big block and gathering ideas. Th...

Epoxy Primer Screwup - HELP!
So I just got done priming all the sheetmetal on my minitub project with PPG MP170 epoxy primer. When I was cleaning up, I realized my dumb ass mixed MR186 reducer with the primer instead of the MP175 catalyst. How screwed am I? When I realized what I did, I could have puked in my hat. My sinking fe...

Carpet Install Tips?
Soon I'll have the floors welded back in the Nova, and I plan to install carpet to finish things off. I have a bulk roll of lightweight loop pile carpet that I'll cut to fit. Any tips on forming the carpet to the floor/tubs? I would like to keep the number of seams to a minimum to keep it clean. I h...

Re: It's Tubbed...Finally
Ha! You're not kidding! It all seemed so straightforward when I started cutting things out! I'm definitely learning a lot as I go. To begin with, my car had a portion of another car welded in to it at some point before I got it. The drivers rear trunk floor is all from another car. It didn't line up...

It's Tubbed...Finally
Finally making progress again on the minitub project, so I had to share some photos. Spent some quality time in the garage over the long weekend, and have the tubs welded in. Now the project sheet is down to about 10 pages to get the car back to the track again! Plan is to have it back out by the en...

Belt Drive - Comp vs. Jesel
Anyone have experience on the Comp 6200 vs Jesel 32000 belt drives? I'm collecting parts for a 496 BBC for future use and found a decent deal on a new Comp setup. A little background on where I'm at: A buddy had a 496 with a filled block that wound up getting porosity in the filler and had water see...

Re: It's time for a upgrade!
I agree with getting the stock tub out of there. I'm in a slow, painful process of mini tubbing mine. From the inner wall of the frame to the quarter panel I've got about 15.5" of clearance. I didn't realize just how poorly my car had been repaired by a previous owner until I took four layers o...

Re: It's time for a upgrade!
Good luck! How aggressive are you going to get? Just adding a strap of sheetmetal or all new tubs? While you have the back seat and inner tubs out, now is a good time to get rid of that evap canister and large stamped bracket in the trunk as well! Not a huge weight savings, but every little bit help...

Ford 9" Ring Gear Bolts
I'm in the process of setting up my center section, and have a question about the ring gear bolts. The spool and ring gear are set up for two sets of bolts, 7/16" and 1/2". Is there a recommendation for what bolts to use and a power level for needing both sets? I bought my case and spool u...

Re: Copper Gaskets
The Cometics are spendy, but worth every penny, since they can be reused. My cousins race NHRA Stock Eliminator, and one season they had the heads off six times working on their combo and reused the same set of head gaskets the entire time.
I've reused a set once with no issues.

Re: Clearance Between Tire and Wheel Tubs?
I haven't trimmed the outer lip on the quarterpanel yet. I'm going to wait on any trimming in that area until both sides are ready--my wheel openings differ front to rear about 1/2" from side to side. Once I get everything squared up I'll be able to see how aggressive I need to trim. By the loo...

Re: Clearance Between Tire and Wheel Tubs?
Finally making a little progress on the minitubs. Like John said, looks like there will be no issues on height, but it is a bit tight at the rear where the stock tub meets the drop off panel. I don't think I'll be able to run the car quite this low, the sidewalls are really close to the quarterpanel...
