Yeah, understood but, I did buy all of my rotating assy from them, granted I did put it together myself though.

30* sounds a bit cold - have you verified it's for sure 30*? 36-42* around that range is a bit more common for a inline head small block even on Alky. Does it MPH best at 30 or something? I have a quick question for the alky users. What are your running for timming in you engines? Mine seems to like about 30*. Is this normal?
drill a hole in the intake, install a valve like a drain petcock open it to make a lean high idle to build heat screw closed works good.. X2 and get the engine to atleast 220* so you don't have the milk shake oil. I run mine up to 220 and hold that temp for about 2 or 3 min, shut down and heat soak...

I would say to leave the line at 180 and get the engine to have a 10 degree rise in temp during the run. My guess from what you are saying is that, yes you are a little rich. Do you have an EGT in the car? Now, I'm also not an expert at this, but that's what I have been told to shoot for with my car...
