Major Overheating Problems
Had my car out for a rip on the street tonight (68 Camaro/582cid). Damn thing got up to about 260F in about 10 minutes of driving. Outside temp was around 85F which probably didn't help things but I'm thinking there's a cooling problem somewhere. I have a Griffin 32 X 19 rad, a Meziere electric pump...

Re: Anybody ever bought a Shafiroff Short Block?
The Ultra Street engines were only offered with Merlin bolcks until Canadian Guy had an oil leak problem with his. After that Shafiroff changed over to the Dart blocks for his Ultra Street line. My Merlin block so far seems ok and even though Scott has a 2 year warranty on his street engines, I won'...

Re: Anybody ever bought a Shafiroff Short Block?
I finally turned the key on my Shafiroff 582 tonight. Sounded awesome, ran it for about 20 min and had no leaks of any kind...except for coolant. In the 20 min it ran it got up to 240F and overflowed catch can. Any ideas on cooling the thing down--I can't remember my 461 ever getting that hot. Griff...

Re: Proform Starter Wiring
Not necessarily...mine goes to the positive battery terminal, to the starter and one wire to the alternator to kill its field shutting down the car. Do you have any idea on wiring the starter SC?

Re: Proform Starter Wiring
Upon further investigation, the wire I thought went to the negative battery terminal actually goes to the master cut-off switch. Does this wire go to the top terminal along with the positive to battery wire?

Proform Starter Wiring
I was looking over a tech sheet on wiring a Proform gear reduction starter and it's extremely vague. The spade terminal to the starter switch (12 or 14 guage wire) is straight forward and it says to install the black lead (already attached to starter) to the lower terminal. The part I don't understa...

Re: trans fluid???
One other question after reading John's link...Will the Amsoil comp oil work in a high performance TH400 or is it just recommended for glides?

Re: trans fluid???
I've heard from a lot of locals around here that you shouldn't use synthetic oil in your tranny. It's fine in your engine and 3rd member but their reasoning was it makes your internals too slippery. I'd be interested in some feedback from you guys. I'm almost ready to fill mine up and was wondering ...
