Re: It's comming along nicely!
Yep I saw that one. Would still be close to $600.00 by the time you added a strut kit and other hardware. I bought a strut kit instead if making one and still have less than $300.00 in it.

Re: It's comming along nicely!
Yes I think you could But would still be 3 times the cost of aluminum. I have about $80.00 dollars in the aluminum to build the wing. My alu. wing only weighs 6.2 lbs and you might only save a pound or 2 out made out of CF. I didn't think it would be worth the cost to build one out of CF. Might buil...

Re: It's comming along nicely!
The price for CF is high $$$$$$$. One 4' X 8' sheet of CF .060 thick is $500.00 + shipping and everything else to build one. It would have been close to $800.00 to build it. I have less than $300.00 in this one...... Sometimes the cost out weighs the cool factor!   :mrgre...

Re: It's comming along nicely!
LOL! Harry I like your thinking! :thumb: Wings do look cool. They do help the slipstream by cleaning up the dirty air behind the car and down force at speed some. The wicker bill on my wing is only .400 tall so it doesn't act as a air brake. Here's one you didn't think about. A wing on the back also...

LOL! The bumper is hanging on the back of the car, not even attached. I have a fiberglass bumper on it's way now.

Re: It's comming along nicely!
Wing is completely finished. I put nut plates on the hinge so I could remove the wing easily. Also used the Tim McAims strut kit to support the wing.
Complete wing is only 6.2 lbs. Got to love that......

Re: It's comming along nicely!
The car isn't getting strips or a "V" top. The deck lid was used as a paint test panel and has 4 different colors on it. We taped off a stripe for the fun of it.
Here is a pic of the paint scheme only not red but SATIN NICKEL and tuxedo black.........

Satin nickel NOT silver.... It's in the silver family but not silver. All color will be high gloss. I used the old trunk lid for a test panel.
