Going to the track the first weekend in April
Ok.. There is a 3 day thing going on in Sacramento the first weekend in April. Fri night is a TNT. Sat is qualifying and TNT for CMI. Sunday is the CMI event. CMI is prodomanatly compact imports, but, they will let me run in either Outlaw or their RWD class. Since I don't have a cage in the truck, I...

Vega steering box / Pitman arm
So I am condisering switching to a Vega steering box in my 63 pick up. Currently I have a power set up and would like to A) loose the weight and B) make it a little less easy to steer (way too light on the big end IMO). The shaft coming out of the box in to the Pitman arm is a different size than my...

Dave, I have been under the impression that 80% A/S induces squat. Or rather anything bellow 100% induces squat 100% being nueatral and anything over 100% inducing sepperation. Is this wrong? Here is a short track video. from some time ago. http://73-ls1.com/63truck/sac_10_27_07_low_res.wmv Using it...

Ball joints. Is this safe?
I was doing some measuring tonight. At full droop in the front suspension, I have 5 1/4" of travel. I noticed that the end of the upper control arm comes in contact with the top of the spindle. I decided to pull the ball joint and install it from the bottom of the upper control arm rather dropp...

I can tell you why it pulled harder. The motor dips in TQ where the 3,200 was coming in. The 4,400 it's just going up. When I was dead hooking at the track it was taking a little bit before the motor came on. That verter just wasn't enough. I feel I have more throttle control with the 4,400 too. Thi...

John, I agree numbers tell a huge story.. I used to not believe in G-tech as the older ones were not accurate at all. I stand by the Gtech Pro RR as at the track it was dead on for the 60' every time with the 1/4 ET reading .1 slower than what I went and the Mph being 1mph slower than what I really ...

Here is the short video I spoke about in the dark in the middle of a farm field. The first one looks good, but the second one hooks for a second then lets loose.

Unloading rear tires
The only video I have is at night on a deserted road. So it's hard to tell. But, what I think it hapening is happening is the front starts to lift and the rear squats. Then it unloads the tires. I don't think I am toping out my suspension in the front. I will be taping a string to a shock to see. Bu...

I'm wondering if it has to do with shift extension and TQ multplication. Fist being a 2.48 Scond a 1.48 Third 1 Bellow are the numbers (Gears * TQ at rpm relative to shift point) 7,400 first = 682 vs 5,400 second = 559 7,000 first = 774 vs 5,000 second = 567 7,400 second = 407 vs 5,500 Third = 378 7...

Converter swap.. Whats it good for?
I know this is a very generic question as it would depend on your set up, but I'm going from a 3,200 to a 4,400. The best I was doing dead hooking at the track was a 1.87 average 1.89. If you look at my dyno, It needs more verter period. I shift at 7,400. http://73-ls1.com/63truck/new_tune_11_27.JPG...

I have a 3.73 right now.. You can see by the video it's dead hooking just about every pass. http://73-ls1.com/63truck/sac_10_27_07_low_res.wmv The truck has a 3,200 rpm stall in it. If you look at the dyno graph, it takes a hard dip about that RPM and comes back on around 4k - 4,500.. The blue line ...

Input Gear / Tire in fo and get individual gear mph
Not sure if anyone here will use this. But I stumbled a site that showed all the different gear ratios for the several transmisions. I threw it in an excel sheet and wrote some equations. Basically if you put in your Gear, Tire, Converter loss and RPM it will give you mph for both a locked and unloc...
