the end of the stem has a hard coating on it and its like .040 thick when they were worn and the valve job was done the top coat was cut down to a new flat surface as time has gone on the tip of the valve has become work hardend... and started to flake off we se the same thing on the ramps of hard r...

back in the day i had a set of braswell 1050s on a tunnel ram, the carbs came off rickey smith PS car 1985 we put these on 4-5 engines 427s 509s took the same jets 92s always there is more to the carbs than just a part number buy the matching pro systems you will not be sorry..

some people get all queer about this... torque the rod bolts up three times at room temp to the required torque. again note room temp 70+ write down the length of the bolt free and torque down on final instalation and ck torqued length of the bolt compare the measurments is it withen the allowed tol...

4.10 it will 60 just as hard and will stick better with less gear and be more consistant and less prone to wheel stands if you go to a glide a 4.30 would be your friend how much power do you think the engine would make??? and you could do alot with the converter as well.

any good starter good clean grounds i use b&m or tci's is the dist locked out ditch the start retard they don't work and a 555-565 timing should be around 34 total if it's not a crank triger unlock the dist with 10% advance and light springs should work well how fast has it gone ?

all of my current personal stuff is huge solid roller, i build 30-40 engines per year for off shore/ drag and street stuff. the hyd roller i use is a crower 01405 i have it ground on112 insted of the 107 that the intake comes on.. in a pump gas 540 91/from 711 9.2to one comp 3800 lb car with 10.5/29...

even with a hyd roller we use stud girdles due to the fast valve action keeps the studs from flexing.. u may check your spring pressure we use alot of 145-150 and 400-425 stuff in some cases... just a thought if you went to a 3.73 gear with a 30 inch tire that's like 143 mph turbo 400 4.10 what conv...

shaft rockers or stud ? buy a good lifter like the crane ultra pro, morel etc also manley next tech at least i have had good luck with them. for a street deal something like comp xr286r on a 114 intake110 made 610 in a pump gas oval port 468 with boost wil make 750+
