Help With Rear Gears
I'm currently running 4.57 gears in a Ford 9" in my 68 Camaro. Last year I was running 32 X 14 slicks and in the 1/4 mile I would go through the traps at 6300rpm. I switched to 31 X 13 slicks this year and ran in an 1/8 mile race today. As I went through the traps in 3rd gear, my shift light wa...

Drag Shocks
I'm in the market for a new set of drag shocks. My car is a 68 Camaro, stock front end and tubbed, ladder bar/ mono leaf set-up in the rear. As of now I have been running stock AC Delco shocks and I broke the pass. side front last year after a 5 foot wheelstand off the line. Just wondering if anyone...

Re: 68 Camaro Steering Shaft Assembly
I fixed it. It was a problem with the coupler, the shaft from the gearbox slipped out of the coupler assembly. Just loosened all the bolts, the shaft slipped back into place and I cranked them down good and hard.

68 Camaro Steering Shaft Assembly
Anybody have any info on the steering shaft assembly under the hood of a 68 Camaro. It has manual steering and something broke last time I had it out last fall. I heard a loud snap and I lost the steering. Upon disassembly, I couldn't see where anything would have sheered off. Just wondering if this...

Sunoco Race Fuel
I recently won a barrel of Sunoco Standard 110 octane leaded race fuel. In the description it says it's good for compression ratios up to 13:1. My engine is a "pump gas" 582 with a comp. ratio of 10.5:1. Could I run this fuel in my engine safely? I've heard a couple of comments about my en...

Ford 9" Oil Change
Anybody have any info on changing oil in a 9"? Can you siphon the old oil out of the filler plug hole or do you have to break the bolts on the center section?

Re: engine oil
Just topped my engine up with Castrol Syntec 5W-40. Haven't tried it before so I'll see how it works.

Re: Widow net
I was talking about the IHRA handbook, not the NHRA. And by the way, I wasn't concerned.

Re: Widow net
Supernova, is that net legal? I was reading my IHRA rulebook and it says the front of the net has to be 2 inches back from the front of the steering wheel. My rulebook is a few years old so maybe this rule has changed?

Horsepower Loss Through Drivetrain
How much horsepower is typically lost through the drivetrain? In terms of a TH400 for example, I've heard as much as a 60 HP loss. Can anybody shed some light on this?

Re: Major Overheating Problems
I think I just found my problem... My electric fans and water pump are wired together. I disconnected my fan leads so the pump was still hooked up and turned on the power. Nothing. I swapped the wires and tried again and it worked. Now to fire it up, check the timing and take it for another ride.

Re: Major Overheating Problems
How about removal of the thermostat altogether? I never ran one in my 461 and the temp always stayed in the 200 to 220 range. I decided to try one in this engine but maybe I should remove it? I was also advised to check my timing by a friend. He said if it's too far out of whack it would cause the e...
