Re: Coil Spring Height
Well so far, I replaced the upper control arm bushing with the competition engineering bushings and the upper rubber bumpers are gone. I was told to go to my local Walmart, K-mart and buy myself a cheap pair of gas shocks.
Ball joints and lower control arm bushings are new. Sway bar went bye-bye's as well.
Anything else?
Bruce

Sounds like you're on your way...
Cheapo gas shocks might work ok, if you've already got them it can't hurt to go ahead and give them a try and see how they work. They might be a bit too stiff to get the front end up quick enough, you'll just have to try them.

No, didn't get shocks yet. I actually have been looking at the Summit brand drag shocks which are made by Competition Engineering. I heard a lot about Afco's but they are a little too much for my budget.

Re: Coil Spring Height
Hey Bruce, are the springs new or have you had them installed for a while and allowed them to "settle" and relax? They'll need to be installed for a while before you can determine the guesstimation cut length.

Hey Mike,
Your right, John is alright....ops, I wasn't suppose to say anything, was I ?
Anyhow, I installed the new springs around Oct or Nov of last year. I waited like others said and hoped it would drop more, but it looks like I need to cut them.
How's the Chevelle coming along or did more guests drop in?
Thanks
Bruce

I don't know what you're talking about........ IMO, I think John is a lil' touched in da noggin' while I'm purfictly sane.Bruce69Camaro wrote:Hey Mike,

That's my standard excuse for not getting anything done. I tell that one to everybody else too but, now my secret's out. Gee, thanks Bruce....Bruce69Camaro wrote:

I'm working on the engine mid-plate. I feel confident it will be the most well-engineered mid-plate that costs under $1000 not counting my labor which is worth about $1.75 per hour.

Ok Mike, I got to tell you the truth. John paid me to ask you all of those questions, so everyone can know the truth...
Come on John, tell him you paid me...
Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Coil Spring Height
Ok, here is one more thing to add. I took a quick measurement this morning (5:15am) and it looks like I got close to 8" to the bottom of my oil pan.
So if I do drop it 2", will 6" be enough of clearance for the pan?

Re: Coil Spring Height
That ought to be plenty I would think. Your headers will be a little lower normally, so keep that in mind.
