High power cars like them. Helps keep the tire from balling up in front, less prone to tire shake, better 60' times.

More stable and the sidewalls last longer.
Re: Stiff sidewall??
interesting thread!
What would be the downside of the stiffwall slick ? Does it still hook as good as the regular wall tire ?

What's the combination? engine/trans/gear/tire size?
Generally, any car over 3000 lbs running on smaller tires really needs a stiff sidewall tire.
No down sides I can think of.

Ok it is a 90 Beretta with a 540 going in it soon..PG trans with 1.80 1st gear..Not sure on converter yet as we will dyno motor then have converter made.
33X16 tire and a 4.30 or a 4.56 rear as I have both of them..
Car with me in it is 2380.lbs......
I tried Hoosiers in both a co7 and a co6 compound with not the best results and tried a worn out set of Goodyears and had the best short time ever with my junk motor...1.20

No they were not a stiff sidewall and they were old tires that were made in Chillie.
