I'd go with the same style srping you have except I'd go with one thats rated 100# higher. 50#s might do ok but I'd want 1-2 inches longer spring. BBC is wearing out those SBC springs. But if you're wanting to replace them every few years stick with what you have. Could even stay with the same weight spring but go longer also. They will still have to be replace every few years.

Stiffer springs will be going to wrong way.

Call Santhuff for your front springs, I had issues like you do now, inconsistent 60's on marginal tracks. Mine hooks now  I even went from a 10.5 slick to a 9" slick. They need to know the front end weight of your car. Hey John, I talked to Ron today ;)

The moroso springs that are installed .... were they cut or are they full length?

If they were cut maybe you should just get the stock moroso spring install it full length and wait for it to settle down. So you can maximize your stored energy.

18 inch springs..... installing a 16 inch spring in a 1st gen f-body is difficult. another 2 inches, I'd let someone else try first.

Santhuff sells those same brand of springs at http://www.santhuffshocks.com, they might have a bit larger selection. By the looks of the Smith springs, those appear to be Suspension Spring Specialties brand.
