Front motor plate

#1 Post by batstar70 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:37 pm

Hi Guys, I'm in the process of installing an aluminum frt. motor plate (already installed the .125 mid plate). My question being which do you think would be better to use- a 1 piece or a 2 piece style, like is for sale through Jegs. Its a '70 Nova 4130 moly chassis w/Bbc and a glide for power. There is about 33"-35" between the frame rails. Thanks, Dale

I don't believe it really matters all that much since there is really very minimal material connecting the two sides of the single plates anyway. I've never tried the two piece setups though.

Thanks, John. I'll get the 1 piece and just go that route. Dale

If you havent thought about it yet I recommend forward limiters for you
engine seen alot of front plates cracking from the braking force.

Coonass On Gas, I am going to mount 1 forward engine limiter on the starter side between the block and the frame. Do you think I should mount 1 on the oil filter side, or is that just overkill?

Nice web site. Haven't heard CCR in quite a while in these parts. Too bad I don't need any powder coating right now.

I would use a limiter on both sides on for the equal force factor.
One is deffinately better then none and would most likely work fine
I have always used two just because I don't want it to tweek at all.
Thanks for taking a look at the website.
