Been working on the Nova and here is an Update

#1 Post by Bing72 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:04 pm

Well started a DIY mini tub job and found that the car was really rough. So I backed up and went at it in a little different way.
I started over fresh media blast the body and found even more
problems. Keep going don’t get discouraged I keep telling my self. And now it's starting to come together really good now I think.
I know I could have started with a nicer car but this was a father & son project the ended before it even started. My dad passed away before we could do something really nice with the car. Then the car has sat for the last few years. So you see I have to use this car. But any way here are some progress pictures.

Did you have much problem getting the outer stock wheel tubs cut away from the qtr panels?

No not really started wilth a sawsall and finished up with a cut off wheel. But it did leave a little matteral on the lip that I need to clean off but not a real problem.

I have a request for you John. Do you hava any side shoots of your hood just so I can see what the profile looks like. I'm having one heck of a time with trying yto find the right hood. And I think I am just going to go with the VFN 5 in. Or I am going to have to have someone make me the one that I want.

Nice pics! I know I'm not John but I've got a 5"VFN on mine as well.

Great that is what I have been looking for. Did it take you long to get used to not seeing the stock cowl panel.

Yea, I'm still not use to it. I ordered the hood that works with the stock cowl panel but they sent me the extended hood instead. I hope to get it painted in the next week or two so hopefully that will help as well....
