68 Nova mini tubs

#1 Post by Jophus » Mon Dec 15, 2008 10:11 am

I just installed DSE's mini-tub kit on my 68 nova. Anybody know the biggest wheel and with offset I can run? I'd like to fun a 15x10, but not sure of what offset I need. Thanks a bunch, Joe.

if stock rear end width then you can go with a 7 1/4 back spacing but i think only the auto drags come that size oh and thats a 10 1/2 wheel other wise it will be 6 1/2 back space with other rim's and only 10 inch wide this is from experiences that i ahve had with all the minni tubs we have done

My nova is a 72 I dont think they are different i ran the weld alumastars 15x8 with 5 inch back spacing a 15x10 with 7inch backspacing should work depending on how much wider the DSE tubs are i haven't had any dealings with them.

Search though some older posts I think some of the Nova guys are using 15x12's with mini tubs and if not they have the backspacing figured out on the 10's

All depends on the width of your rear end. Did you notch the frame? How much?

I narrowed mine a '72 nova, I'm thinking about 1/4 inch out of the stock frame.

Do you guys think a MT 315/60-15 on a 10"rim will fit with the right backspace?

I'm thinking of going with A MTT-3762R 295/65-15.

Thanks

With only 1/4" out of the frame, 315x60's are going to be tough to get under it, but a lot depends on how low the car is and rim width. If the car is sitting down pretty good, like the rim is even with the rear outer qtr lip, you'll need a full notch all the way to the inner frame rail to clear that tire.

I agree, it does look tough. They are clainimg a 13.4 section width.
I am lowering it with Caltrac split monos 1" drop and sliders.
Since it is street driven I might play it safe and go with the 295/65-15.

Thanks, Travis
