Bump Steer

#1 Post by Craig W. » Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:15 pm

What's the best I can expect to get the bump steer in my pinto rack setup?

I've been talking with David Lemmond about the setup and will probably get some upper control arms from him to get more caster in it so that I can raise up the rod ends.

I ended up having to go with TRZ steering arms due to availability. They helped the bump steer a great deal compared to the stock ones, but the car still wants to pull hard to the right when the front tires come back down to earth after the initial wheelie. I helped it by taking a bunch of travel out of it. That let me get down the track, but I'm having to fight it way too much.

Can I expect good bump steer with the full range of suspension travel? Or will I have to keep the travel limited no matter what? The bump steer is worst at full droop. Its really good through the middle of the travel and not too bad at full bump.

you should be able to correct the problem with the rack. They aslso make a bumb steer kit for a stock steering box
