Drum to Disc Brake Conversion Kits
Anybody ever try the Summit drum to disc conversion kits? I kinda like the price tag, about $500 compared to some of the more popular name brands. What would I be sacrificing in quality and safety going with the cheaper Summit kit and would they be enough to pull my car down from a 130 to 140mph pass? I'm sure they would be better than the 4 wheel drums I'm running right now...any thoughts?

Some areas on the car may not be as crucial as others when it comes to minding the budget. Brakes ain't one of them........

Aerospace components just a few dollars more and are worth the money IMO.

Yeah I guess that's true.Mike Peters wrote:Some areas on the car may not be as crucial as others when it comes to minding the budget. Brakes ain't one of them........

I guess a better question would be if I was to buy conversion kit complete with spindles, would I be able to upgrade to good quality rotors and calipers using those same spindles? I'm running Weld Magnum Drags up front with a 2.5" backspace and I'm a bit concerned with how the calipers would fit.

Re: Drum to Disc Brake Conversion Kits
Im not sure what conversion kit your looking to buy but with the aerospace comp. you can use your stock spindles, and you shouldn't have any clearance issues,I run the alumastar2.0 with the same back spacing with no clearance issues. Hope this helps you some.

Yes that helps, thanks. I was talking about a complete change over kit from stock drums to stock discs.

I'm running OEM discs up front and Aerospace discs in the back. I replaced the OEM drums in the back and have not had any problems with the combination.
