TOO MUCH TRACTION?

Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
tuning a nitrous car without the nitrous on is impossible, the gear selected, the converter stall, even the carbs are all set to have the additional torque. all nitrous cars are pigs when run on motor and they dead hook, the additional power from the nitrous is needed to break the tires loose and get wheelspeed. if you get wheel speed now without the nitrous off it will just smoke the tires with the nitrous on. you need to have at least 80% of the nitrous package in when your tuning.
Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
Yup, You have to put in a non adder Converter, and Gear selection at a minimum to get it worked out..
The only thing you can pay any attention to is getting the car tuned for MPH right now, everything else will be useless when you put the juice to it.

Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
even though the motor makes 1010 hp without nitrous and only spraying 200-300 hp it will make that much difference?
Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
Check to see where the converter is flashing to, then look at your dyno sheets and see where your motor starts making HP and torque.99camaro wrote:even though the motor makes 1010 hp without nitrous and only spraying 200-300 hp it will make that much difference?
There is a big difference HP and Torque even with a 300 shot
Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
Way too a big tire, need looser converter 6000+ and better double adjustable shocks.

Even a small shot will make a huge difference in how it launches. Your converter flash will increase approx 1000 rpm or more and it's going to hit the tire with a lot more torque. You'll still have tuning to do on the chassis more than likely, but maybe you can get away from the dead hook. Still probably going to have to do something with those wheelie bars so they aren't unloading the car when the tire wads up.99camaro wrote:even though the motor makes 1010 hp without nitrous and only spraying 200-300 hp it will make that much difference?

Re: TOO MUCH TRACTION?
You got the correct answer in the second response (johnh): Increase the tire air pressure.
Just increase the tire air pressure until you stop abusing the wheelie bars. From that point, you've got 2 choices: Either sell the car or find ways to move a whole lotta weight forward.
If you're able to avoid the first choice and move enough weight forward to allow a return to the lower tire air pressures, you'll have what you want.

I agree, how long are you in first gear...maybe a second?

99,
What are your rear spring rates? If all you are trying to do is to get more wheelspeed, try slightly stiffer springs. In doing so, be careful of how the car handles bumps and gear changes.
