Bump steer??????

#1 Post by supernova » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:25 am

Is it better to have straigh front wheels under acceleration with the front lifted or the front wheels straight when static?
I know that the wheels move in and out slightly when the front of the car moves up and down.

Straight as it's going down the track.

Unless you have the front tied down tight, it's best to set it up about 2-3" up from static, or there abouts until you have an idea where it's carrying the front end typically.

Oh yeah, verify that it never goes positive (toe out). Regardless of the front end height, it should always be some varying degree of toe in. If it goes from toe in to toe out, it's not good.

Thanks John,

That's what I needed to know. Although the front end has been together I've never really messed with the alinement.

It has no positive toe with the front end going up and down.

Thanks again for the info. We are getting real close to the track.

My car was the worst when at full compression when coming down from a wheelie. I adjusted it to where it was the worst at full rebound and then limited the travel so that it never gets there.

Goes real straight now.
