Pumping Brakes
I installed a manual disc brake kit on my Camaro. I'm using a Strange M/C, adjustable proportioning valve, Strange rear drum brakes, 3/16 steel lines and also #3 braid steel lines going to the calipers and wheel cylinders.
As far as I know I got all the air out of the system.
The other day driving it, I had to pump the brake pedal at least three times to get a solid feel.
Is that about a normal amount to pump the brakes?
Thanks
Bruce

Re: Pumping Brakes
Sounds like you still have air in the system.
I didn't know Strange made drum brakes?

Re: Pumping Brakes
They make a 11" drum kit for the nine inch ford using the big and "New or Torino" big bearings.
I'll double check and make sure I got all the air out.
Thanks

Re: Pumping Brakes
My strange brakes did the same thing. It took forever to get all the air out.
I had to pump them up real good and then crack open the line AT the MASTER cylinder. After i did that a couple times they WERE GOOD TO GO!!

Re: Pumping Brakes
Why would you need to bleed the system from this point? A line lock is simply an open valve until power is applied, air and fluid will just flow through it.Blade wrote:Did u bleed the line that goes into the Line Lock?

Re: Pumping Brakes
Well this weekend, my wife helped me bleed my brake system and found some air in the rear lines.
Now on the second pump, it's solid.
Now, have a question for guys with big tires, how do you know when you need to make an adjustment to the proportioning valve?
thanks

Re: Pumping Brakes
well i would say adjust it till you can lock up the front brakes then back off till they won't lock up and that should mean your using all your wheels to stop now and you are just boreder line locking up the front brakes then you should be about 20% rear and 80% front braking

Did you plumb it to the front or rear?Bruce69Camaro wrote:Well this weekend, my wife helped me bleed my brake system and found some air in the rear lines.
