Hey John,

Do you run at the Grove?

I got a few buddies at S&W if you want I can give you their contact info, in fact one of them even races a Monte.

Let me know.

Check the driveshaft length.

I ck the driveshaft length but not the angle power house makes a driveshaft angle gauge ever use one local trans shop told me that if the angle is off it will brake the bell

One of my buddies broke a number of bellhousings, including a Ultra bell in his G-body. He did a shot gun approach, putting in a pinion snubber and changed the drive shaft length at the same time and it fixed it. Most likely at some point it's bottoming out the driveshaft.

Thanks John I took the ladder bar car to a driveshaft shop had them make me one.I build my own trans and after it brakes the bell I reuse everything but the case. I would see that the driveshaft is hitting the tail when i pull them apart. The local trans shop told me that its vibration and now that i think about it it did walk a tail shaft bushing out.

My memory isn't great on this, but it seems to me his first problem was a broken tailhousing, maybe two of them, then he broke a bell housing. I believe he did the driveshaft change, added pinion snubber and put a different transmission in it all at the same time and problem went away. Hard to tell which one was actually the problem.

I believe it was a turbo 350

Another vote for the driveshaft, But I think it may be too short. Had a buddy of mine, Got him some good shocks on the car that made it dead hook, 3 passes later, broke the case. So thinking it may have been just one of those deals, replaced the case again. 3 passes later, broke the case. So really started to look at things, noticed that there was probably over an 1/8 inch of play in the transmission yoke up and down. Replaced the case again, measured for new driveshaft , and new driveshaft came back 3/4 of an inch longer. Hasn't had a problem with it since.

I would get under the car with everything at rest and see if you can feel any significant play in it.

NOT A GBODY... just adding my 2 cents...

Embarassed to say this ......happened to us three times back to back.. We all learn from our lack of knowledge...

I purchased a used larger motor than i had in there.....and installed it... then went through three housings.... WTF?

Fianlly removed the motor and installed it on a motor dyno and watched it VIBRATE all over the floor... was ready to tear down the entire motor and an old timer said.....WAIT! and he changed the fly wheel................BAM! wrong FLYWHEEL....
Installed a weighted one and it purrrrred like a kitten....
