Anti Roll Bar...Yes or No..
My co-worker has a 93 Stang running 8.8's. He was doing this on the factory rear link setup with aftermarket components and a anti-roll bar.
He was getting 1.38/1.40 60ft's but wants to get down to 1.2's.
He now switch to a ladder bar/ coil over/ track bar setup.
Will the anti-roll bar hurt him or should he disconnect it?
I have heard that with ladder bar cars this is not needed, any truth to that?
Thanks
Bruce

I've never seen a anti-roll bar slow a car down.

Chris,
Your using Cal Trac's correct? The issue with this is, he went from a factory four link to a ladder
bar setup and I'm not going to say I'm 100% sure, but I thought I was told that with a ladder
bar setup, you don't need to use a anti-roll bar.
He was saying that since he put on the ladder bars, it feels like the is no weight transfer and the
only thing he can think of is the anti-roll bar.
Is this possible?

Hey Bruce, ask Harry what he did to his ladder bars and have you seen the pic of his car leaving all twisted up. A ARB would have prevented that.

Re: Anti Roll Bar...Yes or No..
He probably changed the instant center when he did all that. Sounds like he needs to play around with the ladder bar settings. That said, don't know why he switched, there are lots of factory 4 link mustangs out there laying down low 1.20 60's, it's a very good suspension setup with some tweaking if you know what you are doing.

A ladder suspension bar is nothing more than a very stiff anti-roll bar so I agree with whomever told you that you don't need one.

If the anti roll bar is already installed in the car, I'd run with and without it to compare. I've never seen an anti roll bar hurt a properly tuned car.

I agree, you're not going to hurt anything, it's just that the anti-roll bar is redundant for your car. I'd be amazed if there was any performance change between with-anti-roll bar versus without.

Well just to update you, the guy tubbed out the car, removed the anti-roll bar, still is using the ladder bars, added 130lbs coil overs and on his first run, and also on a very cold day (32*F+), managed to cut a 1.29 60'.

Re: Anti Roll Bar...Yes or No..
I'm still not 100% convinced about not needing an ARB with my ladder bar setup but we'll see how it behaves after I get back to the track. A big big part of the problem I had was the locker I was running - the fricking thing wouldn't lock up until one or the other slick at rotated at least 3/4 of a full revolution. Really played hell with the launch, the suspension and everything else. I'm lucky that I did'nt fold the ladder bars up side to side.
The video below was a 4k transbrake launch under boost - the left side hooked up first and pushed the rear end way, WAY forward before the right side moved. Like I said, I'm pretty fortunate I didn't fold the rear suspension up. D-uh me
Next time out I'll be running softer coils, a full spool, new ladder bars and a bunch more horsepower. We'll see how it launches then
