No, shouldn't need to mess with preload all that much. It varies what people run, but in most cases not a whole lot. On mine I only use like a 1/4 turn - 1/2 turn in.

What's the car doing at launch? Is it going straight? Spinning ? If so when? What's the combo and what kind of ET's are you getting?

I have very similar setup. 3200 with driver, 4.88s, 28 10.5/15 my car 60s a 1.55 to 1.57 with worn out slicks (apparently 100 passes are well used :) ) I run low 7.20s in 3000' air. 94.5 mph. I have Cal-Tracs though. I have them set with no gap, but no preload...and that's with me sitting in the car.

Have you marked the tires and had someone watch? What brand slicks? what air pressure? I run Mickeys at 13 psi.

What's the car doing when you launch, going straight, spinning, pulling right or left?

Assuming you answer no to John's questions...

Does it come up on the converter clean? Are you all the way up when you leave? Until I got my carb dialed in my car was a bit lazy when it left.
