Coil over springs

#1 Post by fourtenposi » Sun Sep 04, 2011 1:59 pm

Hello All,

I have an issue with one of my coil springs, I think it may be going soft and wanted to get some advice. I have about 3/4 of an inch more thread showing on the left side vs the right to get the car to sit level. Last time I had it on the scales with me in the car, the left weight 89 lbs more then the right. Left weight was 857 and the right was 768.Front end weighs 1625 total. It also seem like it is sinking further. So first do you think the offset in spring adjust is correct for the weight difference? I don't remember it being this much, this is the first time I started measuring it. There is also evidence of the once spring coil binding a bit on the left one. Springs have been on the car for 5 years.

Thanks

Hey all, found out the QA1 has increased there selection of springs. They agreed that it sounds like one of my springs is going soft. So I will be replacing my 10 inch 350 springs with a 11 inch 300 springs see if I can get a little more stored energy. :D

Sounds like a very good move. Did the free height of the springs change at all? That would have been a good indication that the springs did settle. Also, was the upper surface of the spring parallel with the lower surface? This would indicate settling also.
I hope this helps.
