I got a '91 chevy pickup that I recently put headers on and I realized the intermediate steering shaft was rubbing on the header pipe. So, I took the shaft off and ground a little bit of the thick part off that was rubbing but it still catches on left turns or when I take my foot off the gas. Has anybody else had this problem on anything ? I ordered the headers from summit and they said it would fit in factory location with no modifications. Had I not relocated the oil filter to the frame it would have been sitting directly on it.
Any ideas on the steering?

Sometimes headers will have to be dimpled to clear stuff. Not all that uncommon unfortunately.

How would I do that without bending or warping them?Craig W. wrote:Sometimes headers will have to be dimpled to clear stuff. Not all that uncommon unfortunately.

Use a hammer and dimple the area that is rubbing.
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

If you need a long indention, I've used an old socket to hammer on.
