What's the next step?

#1 Post by Notagn » Fri Nov 11, 2016 7:28 pm

Hey Guys new to this forum. Any help would be awsome. Working on an 83 Buick regal. I for the life of me can't get this car to lift over the rear axle. Using Mencer doubles front and rear. I just tried lowerin my rear lower control arm down 1 inch on the axle side. This didn't seam to change anything. All the rear control arms are stock location with the exception of the lower rear. So what's the next step to get some movement out of this car? Around 900 hp to the wheels. Using a MT Pro for tire.

Welcome to the site..

What do you mean "can't get it to lift over the rear axle" - you mean you're not getting any separation in the rear? It's not planting the tire?

That's correct no seperation between the body of the car and axle. Or planting of the tires in the rear.

I assume you've already worked with shock settings? Can you lift the rear of the car by hand any? Other than not separating, what's the car doing? Is it spinning at a certain point or something?

Car is 1980 LBS in the rear but I can move it freely shock setting are full loose. The car will spin on the hit until the 330' mark if I want. I have pulled timing as well as using 2nd gear launch (1.48 with 3 55 gear).

With that gear ratio, it ought to hook in the dirt. And the rear moves freely with shocks at full loose, so doesn't sound like it's bound up. You won't get any separation unless you get some initial hook. What is the front end doing at launch? Is it moving up?

Where are you racing this at? No-Prep, TNT, prepped track or ? What tire? Do you have any video of it launching?

Front end also moves freely. 18" by 250 lbs springs. Trz control arms. Track does not have the best prep. Front goes up at launch. I wonder if I slow down front travel more it would lever the rear? I will try to get a shot of the car uploaded.

Going to have to see what it's doing, a good video would tell a lot.
