A few people have been using this new Wilwood model and have liked them - http://www.wilwood.com/Products/006-Mas ... /index.asp

I "think" that is a bolt on for Chevys, Sutton has one of those on his Chevelle.

Brake Pedal Ratio

#23 Post by Wayne Carroll » Thu Jan 25, 2007 2:44 pm

6:5 to 1 is the standard - or anything up to 7:1 for a manual application without power assist. Wilwood is right - you should be fine.

Call Roger Lamb at Lamb Components and he will give you some help if you need it on this matter, or....

Call Gary Hansen at Hansen Race Cars in Montclair, CA. or any other reputable door slammer chassis shop in your locale. They confront this issue on a daily basis and will be more than happy to see you through any concerns setting up your pedal. Usually, a slightly larger bore on the master cylinder helps in pedal feel, so ask which one they recommend.

Finally, if you do purchase another master cylinder, then use an aluminum piece, to reduce weight. It may not be important now, but why go backwards when you start going faster and then very fast?

Good Luck

Post the bore spec's on the master cylinder, it makes a big diff. Shoot for 1000-1100 psi for a nice pedal. Example: with a 6:1 ratio with a 7/8 bore MS is 1500 psi, the same ratio with a 1 1/8th bore is just 900 psi, given the same 150lbs pedal force. Never go above 1600 psi. 8-)
500 inch Dakota 3500lbs race weight best of 9.75 with a spinning 1.48 short time, all motor, no excuses...
