double adjustment shocks

need some suggestions - i have a 71 nova bb and want to change from qa1 r shocks to afco double adjustment - question - which stroke should i use 4" or 7"? also i use moroso trick springs and global west tubular a-arms. thanks, carl

Is this in the front or rear ? How fast?

should have mentioned that . it is in the front - mid ten second car and no power adder

I think you're going to be limited to what will bolt up stock in the front, seems like that's a 4" travel shock if I remember right. Remember that out at the wheel the travel will be more than that.

thanks john, i will go with the 4." wish i would have known about this website last year, i would have saved a lot of unnecessary (foolish) spending...

haha - good luck with the unnecessary spending, it hasn't helped me that much yet!

AFCO's are NOT bolt-in

Just a word of caution. The AFCO's are NOT a bolt in item on a Nova/Camaro with stock lowers. Hopefully your GW lowers have a larger shock opening. I just went through this on my '67 and it took some fabrication work to get the 1840F's to fit. Something else, AFCO has come out with a new series to replace the 1840F and it must be installed with the spring as an assembly. Got that straight from AFCO. That's one reason I got a pair of 1840's while I still could.

looks like i better get the measurements of the shocks from afco and then measure the opening of the lower.....thanks for the info, carl
