RS9000 adjustment
I got my FREE RS9000 shocks from Calvert Racing yesterday thanks to the small sponsorship deal I worked out with them. At any rate, I've never had adjustable rear shocks before.
On a track with good prep, do you want to run them stiff and on a loose track, run them soft?

Start out with them on #5. On a really good track, you can stiffen them to #3 or 4. On a looser track, 7 or 8. They adjust backwards to that of a QA1, so the higher number is looser on rebound. I never ended up at full loose or full stiff.

Except for QA1-R shocks, all single adjustable shocks get stiffer on rebound as you soften compression and vice-versa. That's why double adjustables are getting so popular...individual control over both directions.

Craig, your reply was opposite of the reply I got from Travis lol. For less than ideal starting line conditions (aka slippery), don't I want to go DOWN to a lower number? They scraped all the rubber off the track last week and I spun for about the 1st 10ft! I started on 5 and went down to 2. Even tried going down 1# of air pressure. My car hooked hard last season. Guess the track needs a few race weekends worth of rubber put down.

Got your wires crossed - you want tighter for a sticky track and lose to plant the tire harder on a bad track.

I typically ran on #5 last year, but as my tires started going away, I went to #7 and traction improved.
Ranchos get looser on rebound as the number gets bigger on the knob.

No, the typical single adjustable will get stiffer one direction as it gets looser the other direction.
The only single adjustables that I know of that don't change valving in both directions are the QA1-R front shocks. They have a fixed, stiff compression.
