I'm looking to buy a truck to tow my car for next year. I like the way the Chevy 1999- 3500s look. I have just started looking around and am wondering what prices are in everybodies neck of the woods.

I used to have a 85 454 dually and it was fine. I'm not against getting another '85 but I like the newer look.

I'm in NY and I have seen some online in the $7500 range near me. Here 1995 and newer cars need to be hooked up to the DMV computer to pass inspection. I'm not sure what the rules are for the heavy duty trucks pre 2000. That could sway some of my decisions. I don't like having things I can't fix with a hammer and chisel  .

Well just to clear this up..

all 88 to 99 year of chevy silverado trucks are going to look the same for the most part.
So when you say you like the look of the 99 chevy's, your not saying much.

We use to tow with a 99 3500 which had a 454.
After 100k things started going wrong.
got rid of it soon after 100k and picked up an 03 3500.
This truck has the 8.1l 496 matched up with the allison transmission.

What all started going wrong after 100k? My '97 3500 Chevy has 96k on it. Good truck.
