After several years in secret development, I am proud to finally announce the release of the Tube Bandit Digital Readout!

Tube Bandit is a unique patent pending system for real time measurement of bend angle on JD Squared Model 3 and Pro Tools 105 & 105HD benders. It provides a 1/10th degree resolution real-time digital display which easily attaches to benders using unmodified dies, with or without hydraulic conversions.

Please visit our website to learn more. You'll find additional pictures, video, installation instructions, and pricing there. Tube Bandits are in stock, ready for shipment and we're offering a Free T-Shirt to our first customers.

There is an install video here that shows how it goes on and how it works. http://www.tubebandit.com/xcart/video/T ... lGuide.wmv

If you have any questions, feel free to post them in this thread. I appreciate your feedback!

This is very cool. Couple this with the Bend Tech software and it's almost like having a CNC bender.

That is a very nice product. Now I just need a tubing bender to use it on.

Thanks! I agree - Bend Tech is great software. I was part of the beta testing group for Pro and got to inspire a lot of the features in the software. Cris, the guy that develops it, is top notch.

Thanks John! I thought you had an SW cage in your Nova? Or did you build a new one? What bender do you have?

Thank you vegaracer. The way the economy is right now, you may find a good deal on one used. Check the tools classified section of the forum on http://www.pirate4x4.com. I've been watching them come & go on there over the last few months. People are hurting these days :(

Yes I have a S & W cage in mine, but it's coming out. It's time to move up to 25.3 so I've got to start all over again. Also it's an opportunity to redo some things that I've been wanting to do chassis wise.

I don't currently have a bender, it's certainly on my wish list, along with a TIG, sheet metal brake, tubing notcher... well you know LOL..

Question  ......Does it allow for "spring back"????

You can offset the displayed angle for springback. For example, if you've determined your tubing springs back 4.5 degrees, you can start Tube Bandit at -4.5degrees when the tube is initially loaded in the bender.

Tube Bandit will not measure or automatically compensate for springback. This is a problem even for $100k CNC benders. Unfortunately springback varies from tube to tube, even for the same size and material. To determine springback, you can bend to a known deflection angle (measured by Tube Bandit), remove the tubing from the bender, then measure the tube after it has sprung back. The difference in angle is the springback angle.

Take a look at the Tube Bandit instructions for more info on springback.
