Converter for a 2 speed vs. 3 speed

#1 Post by freezy74 » Sat Dec 26, 2009 10:19 am

If I switched from a C-4 to a glide, how would the converter need to be changed?

Does the glide want something looser? More or less rpm drop?

Is a glide even a smart move, or is the 400 a better choice?

It’s a 340” F1-R, weighs 3050# and goes 8.80’s at 154-155

Thanks for your help.

a 340 ci with an F1-R i assume you are heads up racing, so for heads up the TH400 is the better choice and most likely you are running a small tire with NO sissy sticks (wheely bars) lol . Some think you can not run the 3 speed because it may cause the car to wheel stand , this is WRONG , you will use the 3 speed to controll the wheel stand ! If the front end starts to come up too high , SHIFT dont lift ! When you shift there will be a spike to the wheel speed (spin) that will set the front end down nice and smooth. I have an F1R and went 1.21 60" and short shifted at 8 tenths of a second (3450-lbs) I recommend a close ratio 3 speed with a first gear between 2.10-1.80. If you would like to call me on this my number is 316-542-9869
